The company said its aerospace unit, which makes airframes
for Airbus and Boeing, delivered an 8 percent
rise in profit during the period, helped by the ramp-up of
several civil aerospace programmes, which have offset falling
military sales.
Europe's Airbus and U.S. rival Boeing are ramping up output
to meet a surge in demand for fuel-saving jets and are targeting
more than 1,100 deliveries this year, in response to growing
demand from airlines for new fuel-efficient planes.
Airbus last week announced a three-month delay to the A350
following a glitch in wing production.
"On the A350 we have overcome difficulties and are doing
well," said Stein. "We are able to satisfy Airbus' demand on the
A350. The effect is minimal in terms of the slight delay they
announced last week and I don't think the financial impact will
be large."

supplier of aero engine components, according to Bryson and the company
will jump into second place behind MTU when the acquisition of Italy’s
Avio is completed by GE later this year. GKN is now planning to grow the
engine systems work by 15% over the next five years.[/quote]

On l'a vu passer ... du moins pour l'achat !

Pour l'intégration, comme ils disent , ça prend du temps !
Ca élargit le champ de GKN, un tier 1 universel maintenant, englobant les moteurs, alors qu'ils bossent avec RR pour développer un fan plastoc, que l'on attend toujours ...

Maintenant GKN s'intéresse à une partie de Spirit ?

“I’m sure GKN has more than a passing interest in Spirit, but I’m sure it is entirely platonic,” Sandy Morris, a London-based analyst at Jefferies LLC, said by phone. GKN is still digesting Volvo Aero and investors wouldn’t react well if it sought to raise equity to buy the U.S. company, he said.

Acquiring only a part of Spirit, specifically wing activities, would make more sense, Morris said, whereas taking over fuselage structure work the company does for Boeing would hold little value for GKN.

Bon, pas trop causants pour le fan plastoc du projet commun avec RR, GKN évite de donner des infos et surtout des dates pour une éventuelle EIS, et sur quel moteur ... beuh !

GKN , a un œil sur le gros paquet d' activités (Non rentables) à vendre chez Spirit !
Plutôt des pièces de structure, que des ailes, comme le dit le "Télégraph"
Bon, ce ne sera certainement pas au prix demandé par Spirit !

L'usine de Tulsa fabrique également les ailes des G280 et G650, je suis sure que Triumph Aero s'y intéresse également.

Merci Paul de la précision, je focalisait sur les grandes ailes plastoc des gros avions fabriquées au Japon, où a Filton, où a Belfast ...

Bon, le A350 a beaucoup attendu les pièces et les assemblages faits chez Spirit ..., chez GKN aussi d'ailleurs !
L’inquiétude est que, quand des usines de sous traitants sont mises à la vente, il ne faut guère s'attendre à des investissements de production , de la part du vendeur ... donc, une longue période de remise à niveau suivra, ça ne va pas avancer plus vite avant de nombreux mois, sur ces sites !

GKN avance sur des bords d'attaque type Kruger, plus légers en plastoc et sandwich, avec dégivrage, et mieux profilés, dans le cadre de Bluesky, en collaboration avec, UK NCC, et Airbus !
En essai , bientôt ! Sur maquette où sur A320, sais pas ...

Tiens, une OPA peu amicale, de Melrose Industries, sur GKN, qui perd de l'argent sur ses affaires US ... Mais s'en sort plutôt assez bien sur le global ...
GKN semble vouloir séparer sa division Automobile de la Division Aerospatiale.

UK aerostructures manufacturer GKN has rejected a takeover bid from turnaround specialist Melrose Industries and disclosed a plan to separate its aerospace and automotive activities as part of a two-year business-improvement plan.

Following fourth-quarter trading "in line with expectations", GKN foresees a full-year pre-tax profit "slightly ahead" of the £678 million recorded in 2016.
However, the 2017 pre-tax profit does not take into account a working-capital write-off signalled in November. That write-off, associated with GKN's US aerospace business, will be "nearer the upper end" of an £80-130 million range, GKN indicates.

Airbus prend parti dans la dispute , le rachat inamical de GKN par Melrose , Tom William speaking ... Loud and clear ...  
Qui oppose un de ses plus gros fournisseurs à Melrose (Démembreur d'entreprises reconnu   )  :
GKN, fournisseur des poutres des ailes du A350 en particulier, et de nombreuses autres pièces ...
Melrose proteste de ses "Bonnes" intentions, et promet le long terme, Airbus a le droit de ne pas les croire, et avec en plus le Brexit sur les bras ... 
Airbus achète, en gros, un bon milliard de $ chez GKN ... ce n'est pas rien, du côté de 20% du CA GKN, donc un certain droit de regard ... 

Et des nouveaux projets, d'ailes par exemple, chez Airbus, sans GKN, ça restreint pas mal l'éventail des fournisseurs, et peut allonger les distances ...

Après des achats (UK Aerostructures), et leurs développements US, plus des ajustements comptables (IFRS)
Ça peut expliquer la lenteur des co- développements avec RR.

Dans le cadre du projet "Wing of tomorrow" d'Airbus, GKN a dévoilé aujourd'hui un système de moulage par transfert de résine automatisé à basse pression pour fabriquer un longeron d'aile.
