Il faut peut-être cesser de se regarder le nombril européen, ou, du moins, le faire en connaissance de cause !

Car le F-35 JSF va être avec nous, en UE !

The UK is expected to sign a deal "within the next few weeks" to participate in the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter's initial operational test and evaluation (IOT&E) phase, says minister for defence equipment and support Quentin Davies.

Cela semble être sérieux ! Cela sera une affaire assez compliquée ; car le RU va faire partie du projet F-35 JSF, et va passer commande ! Tout comme le RU a fait pour l'Eurofighter !

The minister told a launch event for the UK Royal Navy's "Fly Navy 100" celebrations in London on 16 February that he believes the programme is "well under control, and there are already indications on price schedules that we are talking about. I hope that there will be a very positive announcement within the next few weeks."

Des monomoteurs embarqués, comme les super Etandards, j'aime pas trop celà personellement !
Ils n'ont pas fini d'aller les repêcher leurs pauvres pilotes !
Mais pour du "Stealth" compatible "Portavions"
Ben ya rien d'autre !
A part les Rafales 1/4 de Stealth !

C'est l'éternelle discussion, beochien ! Il y a une question de fiabilité et de "despatch / operational availability" / 'disponibilité' en théâtre de guerre !

Au-delà de le technologie, se l'aide technologique, ....
-- et de la perspective d'avoir la clientèle du RU, ...
-- et de voir les USA garantir une place ppour chacun de ces motoristes principaux, dans la base stratégique des armées de l'air de l'OTAN,....
-- il y a une ou plusieurs raisons pour lesquelles les motoristes P&W & GE sont allés chercher RR !

J'ai souvent entendu dire que finalement 2 moteurs s'était potentiellement deux fois plus d'emmerdes...

Par le passé, le Super Etendard avait été sélectionné face au Jaguar pourtant bimoteur mais dont la double motorisation semblait insuffisante pour les opérations aéronavales.

Par le passé aussi, on peut rappeler les Crusaders, Corsairs II, Shyhawk, Alizés et même Harrier... sans remonter à plus loin.
Le bimoteur s'est à mon avis surtout imposé essentiellement pour des raisons de taille et de poids des appareils (passage du F8F au F4...)

Sur terre, on peut noter les succès des F16, M2000 et Gripen, qui sont tous monomoteurs.

Il faudrait connaître le taux d'attrition des mono comparé au bi...

Et donc que le JSF soit monomoteur ne me semble pas si choquant... si le CSAR-X est en nombre suffisant

Joint Strike Fighter purchase tops Australian defence prioritie.

Australia's long-awaited defence White Paper has committed the
country to a massive modernisation programme. This includes the
purchase of Lockheed Martin's F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, tactical transports, multirole and transport helicopters and maritime patrol aircraft.
Published on 2 May, the document says Canberra plans to increase its
A$22.7 billion ($16.6 billion) defence budget by 3% a year until
2017-18, and then by 2.2% annually until 2030 to rectify current
"shortfalls and underinvestment", says defence minister Joel Fitzgibbon.
Worth more than A$300 billion over the next 20 years, the commitment
will come as music to the ears of foreign contractors and Australian
suppliers, and enable Canberra to step up to contain possible future
threats including China after the USA has reduced its military presence
in the Asia-Pacific region.

Conn., is being awarded an advance acquisition contract with an estimated value of $113,096,750 for long lead components, parts and materials associated with the Lot 4 Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) of 13 F135 Conventional Take Off and Landing propulsion systems for the Air Force, (12) and the Royal Netherlands
Air Force, (1); 15 Short Take-off and Vertical Landing, propulsion systems for the Marine Corps, (14) and United Kingdom Royal Navy, (1); and 4 Carrier Variant propulsion systems for the Navy.

This contract combines purchases for
* Navy, ($11,479,000; 10.1 percent);
* Air Force, ($34,437,000, 30.4 percent);
* Marine Corps, ($60,211,000, 53.3 percent);
* the governments of the Netherlands, ($2,869,750, 2.6 percent);
* and the United Kingdom, ($4,100,000, 3.6 percent).

Work will be performed in East Hartford, Conn., (70 percent); Bristol, United Kingdom, (19 percent); and Indianapolis, Ind., (11 percent), and is expected to be completed in Feb. 2010. Contract funds
will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was not competitively procured.

Le parlement norvégien a fait le choix du F 35 ( P&W )

Oslo, Norway - The parliament voted to allow discussions
(WAPA) - It will be Lockheed Martin's F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter the new Norwegian fighter aircraft. Oslo's parliament made its final choice, allowing discussions for this airplane that matched its requirements better than Saab's JAS-39 Gripen NG.
Now the minister of defence will start talks to decide how many aircraft to buy and the delivery
timeframe. It seems that first deliveries might take place in 2016 to reach a full operating status in 2020.

Norway is member of the international consortium that is realizing this cutting edge fighter. Together with the Scandinavian country other participants, with different commitment, are: Australia, Denmark, Italy, Israel, USA, Netherlands, UK, Canada, Singapore and Turkey. Many other countries are also in talks to purchase these aircraft.

Ouais, c'est qu'une bonne partie des sous-traitants canadiens sont en train de renégocier leurs contrats d'approvisionnement avec Lockheed et ils mettent la pression sur le gouvernement pour signer avec le F-35.

Je suppose que c'est un documentaire australien. Il est réalisé à charge contre le F35, Loockeed Martin et le gouvernement australien qui a décidé son achat sur papier, sans prix. Le Canada est aussi mentionné pour le même type de décision.

Rien que l'on ne sache déjà sur l'avion lui-même, si ce n'est que des simulations par un expert indépendant, qui n'a pas accès aux caractéristiques précises de l'avion, prédit qu'il serait largement perdant face au Soukhoï Su-27. Mais est-il vraiment neutre...

Ils parlent de dix mille lignes de code informatique pour gérer l'avion, ce qui me parait vraiment très peu. Dix millions avec tous les systèmes non embarqués, c'est plus réaliste, mais pas suffisant pour dire que c'est un monstre informatique – une voiture actuelle doit en avoir autant.
