IAE V2500 IS THE RELIABLE CHOICE FOR QATAR AIRWAYS
06/15/2009
Belle affaire !
Oui !

IAE V2500 IS THE RELIABLE CHOICE FOR QATAR AIRWAYS
06/15/2009
Qatar Airways has confirmed that it has selected the IAE International Aero Engines V2500 SelectOne to power a new fleet of 24 Airbus A320 family aircraft. The deal comprises of engines for 20 A320s and four A321s. Combined with a comprehensive IAE Aftermarket Services agreement, this business is valued at over $700 million.
Belle affaire !
The Doha-based airline’s decision was influenced by the engine’s superior performance in the arduous operating conditions often experienced in the Middle East. The V2500 has already proven its reliability as Qatar Airways currently operates a fleet of 19 Airbus A320 family aircraft, all equipped with the IAE engine.
Oui ! Vraiment, ... aucune raison de changer !
Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said: “We have a reputation for selecting only the best for our airline and we know from experience that the V2500 is the superior technology engine for the A320 family.

“It is the most reliable option in the harsh conditions we operate in. The V2500 SelectOne build standard also offers us the lowest fuel burn and a corresponding reduction in emissions, which is vital as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility program and commitment to a greener environment.”

IAE President and CEO, Jon Beatty added: “We’re delighted that Qatar Airways has decided to place this follow-on order, which is firmly based on its in-service experience with the V2500. When we began the original process of designing the engine modifications that would eventually become the V2500 SelectOne, we started with what was important to our customers. Fuel burn has been, and continues to be, one of the largest operating expenses for an airline and the benefits we offer through this new build standard continue to drive our success.”

The 22,000-33,000lb of thrust V2500 is available in seven different thrust settings to power the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 family of aircraft, as well as the A319 Corporate Jet. More than 5,500 V2500 engines are in service or on firm order with more than 180 customers around the world.
