    Le Schiebel Camcopter S-100 vient d'être sélectionné pour répondre à une demande américaine de détection d'explosifs d'opportunité (une méthode de "guérilla" vieille comme le monde et toujours aussi efficace : mon grand-père la subie en Indochine en 54 avec à la clé 2 ans d'hopital et une des première greffe osseuse). Il serait le véhicule aérien du système.

    Schiebel's CAMCOPTER S-100 UAS To Be Used In US DoD Counter-IED Project

    In the fight against Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), Schiebel has been awarded a sub contract by the U.S. technology company, CenTauri Solutions, to provide its CAMCOPTER S-100 UAV as the air vehicle for a counter IED project known as “Yellow Jacket”. This is Schiebel’s first sale for use of its product by the U.S. DoD.

    The U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory, Rome, New York (AFRL) is the U.S. Government’s sponsor for “Yellow Jacket” and has contracted with the U.S. company CenTauri Solutions LLC to examine the feasibility of using a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL), unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) as part of the solution to help detect improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from the air. CenTauri Solutions has been contracted by AFRL to design a system incorporating a high definition electro-optical sensor combined with an unintentional electromagnetic emissions detector on board the autonomous, VTOL Schiebel Camcopter S-100 UAV. The aim of the $11M feasibility and evaluation contract is to assist in the detection of IEDs, which are identified as the single greatest threat to the lives and safety of US and coalition forces serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. “Yellow Jacket” supports the Pentagon's Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat organization (JIEDDO) by providing military patrols and convoys with the technology to identify potential IED threats. CenTauri selected the CAMCOPTER S-100 as the aerial vehicle for “Yellow Jacket”. The S-100 can deploy without support from airfields, for over 6 hours at a time carrying up to 75 pounds of different payloads out to ranges of 180km, up to heights of 18,000 ft AMSL and with a small logistics footprint, making it a potent and versatile deterrent.

    Schiebel’s CAMCOPTER S-100 Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) is a proven capability for military and civilian applications. The Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) UAS needs no prepared area or supporting launch or recovery equipment. It operates day and night, under adverse weather conditions, with a beyond line-of-sight capability out to 200km, both on land and at sea. The S-100 navigates via pre-programmed GPS waypoints or is operated with a Pilot Control Unit. Missions are planned and controlled via simple point-and-click graphical user interface and high definition payload imagery is transmitted to the control station in real-time. Using "fly-by-wire" technology controlled by a triple-redundant flight computer, the AV can complete its mission automatically. Its carbon fibre and titanium fuselage provides capacity for a wide range of payload/endurance combinations up to a service ceiling of 18,000 ft and, in the standard AV configuration, carries a 75 lbs payload for over 6 hours

    French DGA leases Schiebel's Camcopter S-100 UAS for VTOL trials

    Following the success with the first UAS ever to fly at the Paris Air Show in June 2009, Schiebel has now won a contract with the Direction générale de l’armement (DGA).

    The CAMCOPTER S-100 will be leased for a selection of comprehensive experimental trials in France by the French Army at a military camp, during a military exercise, as well as two weeks of demanding trials at a non European location, and on behalf of the French Navy at a Navy base. The trials will take place during the first half of 2010.

    The Goal of these trials is it to assess the advantages of a VTOL (Vertical Takeoff and Landing). In order to fulfill the DGA’s requirements, Schiebel has sub-contracted Thales Aeronautical Systems to assist them with the arrangement and organization of the flight and frequency permits. The main payload for these trials will be the Thales Optronics Agile 2 Electro Optical and Infra Red (EO/IR) sensor.

    Le Camcopter vient d'être testé par l'US Army dans un rôle de guerre psychologique : il embarquait un haut-parleur d'une puissance suffisante pour être audible à 2 km par une foule (voir la photo).

    Schiebel recently conducted, in cooperation with Boeing, a demonstration for the US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, integrating the Camcopter S-100 and ground unmanned systems for psychological operation missions in-theatre.
    A USASOC and Boeing-led team, including also John Deere Company, Trident, Inc. and American Technologies Corporation, assembled a group of unmanned platforms and capabilities to perform a PSYOP demonstration.
    The Camcopter S-100 was equipped with an American Technologies Corporation loudspeaker capable of addressing crowds at a distance of up to 2 km, a leaflet drop capability, as well as an IAI POP300 EO/IR camera payload. The John Deere R-Gator Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) was also equipped with a loudspeaker augmented with the Trident, Inc. data link, demonstrating the potential for teaming UGVs with an UAS.
    The psychological operation mission at a mock-up city training facility at Ft. Bragg, simulating in-theatre conditions, was aimed at minimizing civilian unrest and preventing civilian casualties while apprehending a suspected terrorist cell. The S-100 was utilized to survey the area and provide real-time aerial intelligence, as well as to address the public and drop information leaflets.
    “Working with UASAOC we were able to pull together an integrated team of companies to demonstrate the integration of an Unmanned Airborne System (UAS) and an Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) in just 45 days,” said Vic Sweberg, Director of Boeing Unmanned Airborne Systems. “We brought together hardware and software from five different contractors into a single multimodal system that allowed the control of different unmanned systems capabilities to accomplish a particular mission.”
    “We appreciate the opportunity to work with Boeing to demonstrate the S-100’s versatility and mission performance in this potentially life-saving scenario, the protection of the civilian population in theatre being key to counter-insurgency operations,” said Hans Georg Schiebel, Director of Schiebel Industries AG.
    Schiebel Industries AG of Austria and the Boeing Company signed a teaming agreement in August of 2009 to pursue marketing and support opportunities for Schiebel's Camcopter S-100 in the United States and certain other markets.

    Schiebel a présenté au salon de Berlin des améliorations pour son Camcopter. Au programme un réservoir supplémentaire externe, le chargement à l'élingue et une puissance électrique augmentée.

    To meet the ever increasing demands of customers worldwide, Schiebel s CAMCOPTER S-100 VTOL UAS (Unmanned Aircraft System) is being continuously improved. The latest upgrades provide external under-slung load capability, extended range/endurance and increased electrical payload power output.

    President of the Schiebel Group, Hans Georg Schiebel says, As with all high-tech products, development never seems to be totally completed. There is always engineering and improvement of capabilities ongoing, but certainly within the framework of further perfecting reliability and availability .

    To keep pace with the changing needs of the global UAS market, Schiebel now offers an external fuel tank for extended range and endurance. This option increases flight time to up to 10 hours and has already been delivered to a U.S. customer. Additional enhancements include the ability to carry external suspended under-slung loads and increased electrical power output for payloads, as options for the CAMCOPTER S-100.

    The ability to conduct re-supply missions and to transport goods is quickly becoming a requirement in the VTOL UAV market. To fill this niche, the CAMCOPTER S-100 now can carry up to 80 kg (176 lbs) of external under-slung load. This broadens the reach of the CAMCOPTER S-100 mission abilities.

    In addition, so the S-100 better supports an even wider range of sensors, Schiebel offers increased electrical power output for multiple payload installation or for sensor packages with high power demands, as an add-on module.
