Allegiant Air received approval from the FAA to begin operating Boeing 757-200 aircraft, which it will use first on two Las Vegas routes but eventually plans to operate on service to Hawaii.
The desire to serve Hawaii was the primary reason the Las Vegas-based, low-cost carrier decided to acquire the aircraft type (Aviation Daily, March 9, 2010), but before it can do that it needs to obtain extended-range, twin-engine operational performance standards certification and flag carrier status from the FAA. The airline’s aim is to begin Hawaii service next summer on the aircraft, which are being configured with 217 coach seats.
In the interim, it plans to launch 757 operations on the Las Vegas-McAllen, Texas, and Las Vegas-Rockford, Ill., routes it already serves with its MD-80 aircraft.
Allegiant operates 51 MD-80s and currently owns four 757-200s, but it leased three of them to two European carriers until mid-2012. It also has committed to the purchase of two more, which it expects to acquire in the fourth quarter and begin operating in first quarter 2012. In addition to Hawaii service, Allegiant has talked about the possibility of using the aircraft for Mexico and Las Vegas-South America services, as well as to lower the weekly frequencies in some continental U.S. markets while offering the same number of total seats.
A priori dès qu'allegiant aura l'ETOPS ils seront mis en ligne entre Las Vegas et Haway (217 places)
Une drôle de cie qui aime bien les avions "éprouvés"
A priori c'est des 757 RR et avec des winglets
