Japan Airlines (JAL) has unveiled the cabin configuration for the Boeing 787s that it will operate on its international long-haul services.

JAL has begun selling seats for the first long-haul service on the Tokyo Narita-Boston route, which is scheduled to start on 1 April 2012.

The online booking system shows that the aircraft will have 186 seats in total, with 42 business class seats in a 2-2-2 configuration and 144 economy class seats in a 2-4-2 configuration.

JAL will use the 787 on four times weekly on the Tokyo-Boston service, before increasing it to a daily flight from 1 June 2012. The airline, which has 35 787s on order, has confirmed only this service for the aircraft.

Launch customer All Nippon Airways will outfit its first 787s with 264 seats for its regional and domestic operations.

These will have 12 business class and 252 economy class seats. Later, the airline's regionally-configured aircraft will have 222 seats as it ramps up its initial pilot and cabin crew training.

For its international long-haul operations, ANA's 787s will have 158 seats, with 46 business class seats in a 1-2-1 and 1-1-1 staggered configuration, and 112 economy class seats.

La compagnie aérienne All Nippon Airways enverra à partir du 21 janvier 2012 son Boeing 787-8 à Francfort, deuxième destination internationale du Dreamliner après Pékin.

Quelques jours après avoir reçu le premier exemplaire commercial du
787, dont elle est compagnie de lancement, la compagnie japonaise a
dévoilé les horaires d’opérations entre Tokyo – Haneda et
Francfort. A partir du 21 janvier prochain, le Dreamliner sera opéré le
lundi, jeudi et samedi entre les deux villes, puis tous les jours à
compter du 31 janvier. Les vols quitteront la capitale japonaise à 1h00
pour atterrir à 5h25, et repartiront d’Allemagne à 11h15 pour se poser
le lendemain à 6h45. Cette route sera proposée en partage de codes par Lufthansa, partenaire d’ANA au sein de Star Alliance.

All Nippon Airways a configuré ce Dreamliner pour accueillir
seulement 158 passagers dont 46 en affaires avec des sièges-lits. Les
premiers vols non charters du 787 auront lieu le 1^er novembre
entre Tokyo – Haneda et Okayama et Hiroshima, suivis d’une rotation
hebdomadaire entre Haneda et Pékin en décembre et janvier.

Oui 150-180 places pour les premiers 787 longue distance, c'est comme pour l'A380 au début, vraiment sous les capacités théoriques...

Les compagnies japonaises sont connues pour la faible densité de leurs cabines.

Pour les autres compagnies (et les config régionales des jap), l'éco sera à 9 de front.

Je ne sais plus, mais comment se compare le 9 de front du 787 en 10 de front du 777 ?

Le 9 de front sur le 787 (5,46m) se compare au 10 de front du 747 (6,10m).

Ce sera donc mieux que le 777 à 10 de front (5,87m).



Boeing a conçu le 787 avec l'idée que le confort devait être le même que dans le 737 et le 747.

JAL se sort avec bien plus que les honneurs de sa faillite, 1,7 bn de bénéfices prévus pour 2012,aprés environ 2 milliards en 2011, après un cost cutting plan drastique de 12 billions, incluant la séparation de tous ses B747, et d' 1/3 e ses employés !

A remarkable turnaround continues in the Far East, where Japan Airlines (JAL) has raised its profit forecast for the year to a stonking JPY140bn ($1.7bn) thanks to a superbly executed cost-cutting programme.

JAL only exited bankruptcy 18 months ago, two weeks after Japan’s earthquake-tsunami-meltdown disaster, and has since then had to deal with a collapse in Sino-Japanese relations and stagnation in Europe, one of its major international markets.

Yet the airline posted a massive profit in 2011 of JPY187bn and looks set to announce earnings that would be the envy of almost any airline this financial year too.

Some will no doubt argue that JAL was only able to recover thanks to munificent state aid and a bankruptcy protection system whose succour rivals that of the United States’ Chapter 11.

However, JAL justified that leg-up by unveiling a JPY1tn ($12bn) cost-cutting programme that has seen it shed its entire 747-400 fleet and a third of its global workforce – brutal but clearly effective measures.

The carrier has also boosted international passengers, up almost 20 per cent from 1H 2011 to 1H 2012

Commence à penser que compter sur 2 fournisseurs, présent de nombreux avantages !
Il est d'ailleurs en discussion avec Airbus !
Le mess des B787, aura peut être contribué à en terminer avec l'exclusivité de fait de Boeing, avec JAL !

aircraft after a battery fire, told CNBC he had reservations from the
start on relying on one vendor.
Chairman Kazuo Inamori told CNBC:
"When I first became chairman of JAL in February 2010 I found out that
100 percent of Japan aircraft were made by Boeing - I felt that was
abnormal."
He added, "In a normal market there is tremendous
risk from relying on one vendor. In order to provide good products at
good prices, at lower prices a dual vendor system is a must."

Ce qui a du jouer en faveur de l'A350, c'est que les japonais ont un standard de confort beaucoup plus élevé que la moyenne donc pas question de faire du 10 de front dans un 777 qui, du coup, perd un gros avantage sur l'A350.

Tu a raison Paul et je pense que cette commande va bien au delà du marche Japonais
il faudra surveiller le marche  Chinois car je pense que les cie vont en commander
cela est un avis strictement personnel

Ca doit les conforter dans leur commande

When we compared what both Boeing and Airbus had to offer, Airbus was better," managing executive officer of finance & accounting Norikazu Saito told CNBC. "It may have been a disappointment to Boeing, but they of course understand that business is business"
Saito told CNBC that the biggest payoff from working with Airbus would be increased economic efficiency, although there would be some complications with owning two different brands of aircraft.

"Pilots need to have different licenses; you need to have spare parts for both manufacturers. But even taking all those things into account, Airbus was the better choice," he said.
