The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) is developing plans to introduce a new overarching air support service to deliver air defence 'aggressor' and electronic warfare (EW) training across the UK armed forces.
Known as Air Support to Defence Operational Training (ASDOT), the programme aims to meet the air warfare support requirements across the air, navy, army and joint forces commands from 2020, progressively replacing existing contracted and military service provision as these programmes expire, or reach their planned out of service date.
Several other companies have also expressed an interest in bidding for the contract, which will replace Cobham Aviation’s Falcon 20s and Fleet Requirements and Aircraft Direction Unit BAe Hawks operated by Babcock.
